Our Roots

The Chapel started in April of 2014 as a church plant of Believers’ Chapel, Cicero, NY. At the time, Pastor Chuck Freeman pastored a church called Mosaic Ministries here in Cortland. Looking to embrace a new season of church ministry, Chuck decided to merge ministries with Pastor Jon North of Believers’ Chapel, Cicero, turning Mosaic Ministries into Believers' Chapel Cortland, NY, now called The Chapel. After years of wonderful, caring commitment with Believers' Chapel, we became autonomous and shifted to an Interdependent Eldership Model, as in Eph 4:12-16. God has led The Chapel into amazing new seasons of growth and opportunity to serve Cortland County. We are honored to be a small part in making the name of Jesus famous in our area!

Our heart is for every person to come to know the unconditional love and forgiveness that God so graciously extends to each of us.

We desire that everyone come to the understanding that God loves you exactly where you are at, but loves you enough not to leave you there. Our heart is to see each person be transformed through the power of Jesus Christ and experience the freedom that he paid for us to have.

If you still have air in your lungs, God is not done with you. We believe that every person was created on purpose and for a purpose, and we want to help you discover what it is God specifically has for you.

God has placed unique talents, abilities, and gifts inside each one of us to not only make a difference today, but to make an eternal difference. We desire to unite together and answer the call of the Great Commission.
